Today, Apple has released new versions of their MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, while discontinuing their 12-inch MacBook.
The updated MacBook Air adds True Tone to its Retina display for a more natural viewing experience, and lowers the price to $1,099. The entry-level $1,299 13-inch MacBook Pro has also been updated with the latest 8th-generation quad-core processors, Touch Bar, Touch ID, True Tone Retina display and the Apple T2 Security Chip.
Apple has also lowered the price of upgrading SSD storage significantly across the board. For example, the 4 TB SSD of the 512GB 15-inch MacBook Pro used to cost $2800. It now costs $1400. These savings are seen across every Mac product line.
Today’s updates were meet with one casualty- the ultralight 12-inch MacBook. The device has been scrubbed from Apple’s Online Store. Launching in 2015, the device has been criticized for being underpowered and over priced.
The new MacBook Air & MacBook Pro are available today.
